Lakshmi Vilas Bank → Development Bank of Singapore: what happened to the IFSC codes

Lakshmi Vilas Bank merged into Development Bank of Singapore on 2020-11-27. Our archive of every release of the RBI branch list since February 2016 holds 601 Lakshmi Vilas Bank IFSC codes. For 487 of them (81%) we can name the Development Bank of Singapore code that replaced it and show the evidence. For the other 114 we do not name one, because nothing we hold ties them to a single live branch — and we do not guess.

When the old codes left the RBI list

The merger took effect on 2020-11-27, but that is not the day the old codes stopped appearing in the RBI branch list. 601 of the Lakshmi Vilas Bank codes were still in the list in release v2.0.6, published 2022-01-25 — 14 months after the merger. They are absent from release v2.0.7 (2022-05-09) onward.

The date a bank actually switched its old codes off is usually different again, and for most mergers it was announced by the bank, not the RBI. Merger dates against switch-off dates, with sources.

How we know which new code replaced an old one

• 487 codes from a mapping file shipped with the dataset in Razorpay release v2.0.5 (map_v2.0.5_LAVB-DBSS.csv), which pairs old and new codes directly.

Where none of these holds, we name no replacement. How we decide a replacement. Confirm any replacement code with your bank before you send money.

By state

Old code to new code

Every Lakshmi Vilas Bank code for which we name a replacement, by state. Open a state to see its codes. The new code links to that branch's record.

The 114 codes without a named replacement each still have a page here with the release they were last listed in and the Development Bank of Singapore branches in the same city. Type the code into the box above to find it.
